Detroit Board of Police Commissioners

Running for office is never easy. It requires an intense focus and a commitment to work hard.  While the votes may not have fallen in our favor, we gave it our all.  We believed we could make a difference and we can't thank you enough for believing and standing by us.

We have met some great people along the way and are humbled by the words of encouragement we received. Thanks also to those outside District 2. While we can't personally thank everyone, please know we could not have done this without you.

I particularly want to thank Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan for his support and all of the other endorsers including Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, the 14th Congressional District, Wayne County Black Caucus, Operating Engineers Local 324, Detroit Police Lieutenant & Sergeants Association, Fannie Lou Hamer PAC, Black Slate, The Detroit News, Declare Detroit and the Detroit Free Press.

The issues discussed during the campaign – raising the minimum wage, increasing food security for our families, building a K12 education system that works and educates our children well, making college more affordable, fully funding a comprehensive infrastructure program to rebuild our roads and bridges and reform of our criminal justice system – have not gone away. These are serious problems that require resolution to improve the quality of the lives of our citizens.

My plan is to take a few weeks to process the last six months, relax a bit and of course continue my work as Chairman of the Detroit Board of Police Commissioners. But I fully intend to work on making a difference on those other issues moving forward. I  would be very interested to know your thoughts about the best way to make a change.

By coming together, we can make a meaningful difference-- for our families, our communities, and the great state of Michigan.

The Work Goes On…
